La Cala de Mijas is, first of all, a beach destination. The beach has the services you would expect and access for wheelchairs, which is not true of every beach on the coast. To verifySource: the 2020 text of the current site. Check that the services and the accessibility are still as described.
It is also one of the family destinations of the Costa del Sol that work all year, not only in the summer weeks.
What to look at on a visit
A place that works in summer is not always a place that works in January. If you are thinking of La Cala de Mijas as a home and not a holiday, visit out of season and look at three things:
- how far the home is from the sea and from the daily shops;
- which services stay open in the quieter months;
- how the access roads feel at the busiest and the quietest times of the day.
None of these can be answered from a distance, which is why we suggest a visit before any decision.
Accessibility
If someone in your family needs step-free access, the beach is only the start of the question. Ask about the building too: lift, stairs, parking, the route from the car to the door. We list these details on each home and will tell you when they are missing.
